This is War... WC 284

Cold weather in November, most people stay inside with their hands clenching their hot chocolate. Me, I am outside in shorts and a t shirt. Some call it a game, some call it silly. I call it a battle field. I call it my sanctuary. My soccer field.
Standing there on that hard ground between the poles, I wait for the first whistle to be blown. This season has been ups and downs for the team. We played this team for all our games this season since it was just the two of us. We knew each other very well and animosity grew and grew. Most had friends on the other side but for the next sixty minutes they were the opposition.
My mind flashes back to a few games prior. The ball was traveling down with a wing man trying to race it down. I take off like a bullet out of a gun towards the ball and the enemy. Every one held their breath for they all knew we were going to collide head on with each other. I was more worried about the ball and let myself totally open. The opposition lowered his shoulder and braced for impact…
My body has been bloodied, beaten, and almost broken from the previous battles. Still waiting and warming up for the game me reminiscent again. Every single game before we were beaten with not so much as a struggle from us. This game feels different. There is more electricity in the air. The team is charged up. We can win this war. The whistle blows… The champion is…

Life’s a battle field, leave it all out there doesn’t regret not giving it you’re all.

It was the Best of Times, It was the Worst of Times. Good WC 97. Bad WC 99

The best experience I have ever had from education was fourth grade with Mrs. Porter. She was the best teacher I have ever had. She challenged us in every way possible. She got me to enjoy math and more importantly school. I had a project due for her class and I rushed through it as fast as possible. My mom had to erase everything and make me redo it. Mrs. Porter used me as an example. Embarrassed at this occurrence I ended up getting an A for my hard work. She showed me why school was important.
The worst experience I have had from education was English with Ms. Clawson. She did not know anything that went on in that classroom nor her curriculum. She played favorites with her students. Some students got A’s just for coming to class and shooting the breeze. Others worked hard and got C’s. The class convinced her to take a field trip to the movies all day to watch a movie based off a book we have read in class. She made English more a task than what it really was. They need to bring back the teacher she replaced.

In Karma We Trust. Word Count 282

I believe in karma. What comes around goes around in my mind. It comes from the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism being defined as the effects of person’s actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation. I do not believe in it to that fullest extent but from the extent of do good and good will be done to you and if you do bad and bad will be done to you.
I see it happen almost every day. Working consultative sales and dealing with many people on a daily basis shows the true wonders of the world. I hear all sorts of stories from people’s history and discussions on what their past days or even months have been just because they have someone that listens to them. They tell you the good side of their life and they tell you their mistakes. After every mistake a lesson is learned and something good happens. If they deliberately are bad they have something happen to them and they have to recover. Some succeed through these others falter and never recover. Karma takes advantage of us all.
Being a consultative sale associate and paid on commission karma is a killer. We are given chances everyday to be productive and help ourselves and others. In certain situations we can take other’s sales or help them with no advantage to us but kindness. When the sale is taken the product is either returned, problems occur, or the other associate gains a new sale that is better. This scenario always happens.
Karma is real and it exists. Continue to live for yourself and others with regards to your actions causing damage. What comes around goes around.

Operation Lazy World Word Count 83

This generation is labeled as lazy. They are obsessed with the new technology, clothes, and gossip. Most do not work or do not wish to work. They complain about everything and anything they can. Computers and cell phones have made face to face contact, homework, and everything else extremely easy or even disappear. Video games and entertainment has increased in dramatic fashion that the only exercise most kids get is walking in school for a few minutes between classes. Without technology this generation will not survive.

Nerd Forever Word Count 310

The pocket protectors, glasses fixed in the middle with tape, and smell of science and math in the air can only mean one thing, nerd. Style with the khakis, button shirts, bow ties, and bowl style haircuts make this a fashion disaster to many. Made fun of throughout their life for being different they locked themselves away with their board games and robotics. Completely different in their own time now the nerds of the old are each and every one of our lives.     In the early 1960s, computers were just taking off. On the other hand, sports were the biggest fad in those days. If you were into the computers instead of sports you were an outcast. Those people were labeled a nerd by the jocks. The clubs throughout the years were broke off into the same groups. Being different was a bad quality to have.
Today there is no real way for many to know they are sitting next to a nerd until they pull out a portable game system or the talk of computers arises. But now the talk and system does not mean you are a nerd. The only way to know for sure is the constant talk about video games or a group playing in a certain spot every day. Being different is expected and what is wanted in this time period.
Why has this subculture disappeared? Was the bullying too much for the "nerds"? Has everyone in this generation become part nerd themselves? This subculture is alive and thriving. Everyone has now become part of this movement to be more than just a jock, a nerd, and a princess. Our culture is more defined and more united compared to the past. Technology is a part of this society as much as we are. Computers are everywhere and being used for everything. I am a nerd.

In the early 1960s and getting into the later term, computers were just taking off and only few were excited for it. Sports were the biggest fad in those days. If you were into the computers instead of sports then you were left out and alone with your computers.  Labeled a nerd by the jocks. In clubs throughout the yearbooks were broke off into the same groupings. Being different was a bad quality to have in the past.

It Came from the Darkness! Word Count 247

Growing up I was more into cartoons and superhero comics. My interests ranged from crime fighting turtles to guys in different colored spandex. Reading was not one of these interests. I did however love the pictures in there. Then one day my cousin made me go to this movie with her because it was based off of one of her favorite books of all time. Since I was not a fan of reading I had never heard of it before. She knew my interests and thought I would enjoy it. I sat there in a crowded theatre with the smell of pop corn and cleaning supplies filling the room. Many of the people were dressed in character for the different roles in the movie. A little out of place and creeped out from the people I sat there still and quiet. More and more people filled the room and then the lights went out and got as dark as room at night. Previews flashed and people started to get reckless from anticipation and wanting to see the movie of their beloved book. As soon as the previews ended and the movie began playing a sigh of relief and excitement filled the room. The movie played and I sat in awe at the wonderful story line and graphic images. I fell in love with the movie and for the following years I could not put the books down and gained more interest in reading. Thank you Harry Potter.

The Day the Earth Stood Still...

On June 22nd, 1990. BAM! the earth stood still when I was born. From a small childhood I fell in love with superheros like power rangers. I grew older and my love went to computers. Ever since tenth grade I have worked and tinkered with computers and going to make a career from that. I live with my parents and my brother. I work at Sears selling tractors. Yes, I know big difference from tractors to computers. I am a fun and adventurous individual and one day the world will go BAM! and I'll be dead.
